Irish Palatine Heritage Centre.
While visiting Adare take a drive to Rathkeale to visit the Irish Palatine Centre. In 1709 several hundred families of German origin settled in Ireland. Known as the Palatines they established roots mainly in Rathkeale. The Irish Palatine Heritage Centre houses an exhibition that seeks to re-present in detail the Irish Palatine experience ranging from their German places of origin, to their colonisation and settlement in Ireland, and their subsequent scattering all over the English speaking world. Rathkeale is a 20 minute drive from Adare.
