John Sisk and Sons and Sorensen Civil Engineering were announced as the joint successful tenderers for the Adare Bypass project, with hopes of having the contract for the project awarded by the end of this year.

“This stage of the process is long overdue but nevertheless terrific news for residents of Adare who endure the inconvenience of daily traffic tailbacks of trucks, cars and buses, not to mention the harmful to health fumes emitted by traffic every day. It’s also good news for commuters from West Limerick and the South West of Ireland who have to travel through the village. Let’s hope that there will be no holdups during construction and that the bypass will be completed on schedule“. Comment from Adare Village Website.

In November 2023, the government announced its approval to fast-track the construction of the Adare Bypass to facilitate its earliest possible delivery ahead of the 2027 Ryder Cup.

The bypass is hoped to help to divert unnecessary traffic away from the village of Adare and remove a significant point of congestion on the N21 ahead of the major golfing tournament.

Mayor of Limerick John Moran welcomed the progress on the Adare Bypass, describing the announcement of the tender winners as “significant”.
