The Adare side were bidding to become the first from the county to reach an All-Ireland camogie final. Adare were beaten by a solitary point in their All-Ireland Junior Camogie semi-final by Antrim’s Bridiní Ogá in Abbotstown on Sunday afternoon.

It was late heartbreak for Adare who levelled late on only to concede the final score of the game with the Ulster champions earning a 1-10 to 1-9 victory in the capital.

Sophie O’Callaghan got Adare off the mark after the Ulster champions had opened the scoring. Bridiní Ogá replied with a brace before Caoimhe Costelloe had the game’s opening goal after ten minutes to make it 1-1 to 0-3.

But the Antrim champions hit back with 1-2 in succession to retake the lead after a quarter of an hour in Dublin.

Costelloe had the margin back to three from a free and the All-Star nominee made it 1-15 to 1-3 after 20 minutes. Bridiní Oga had the next score but Aebhin Houlihan replied for the Limerick side. Costelloe had the final score of the half to leave them trailing 1-6 to 1-5 at the interval.

Twice after the restart, Bridini Oga stretched their advantage out to a pair of scores but on both occasions, they were met with an Adare response, firstly from Costelloe and then Lauren Ryan.

But with time running out, two from Costelloe had Adare level for the first time since the opening minutes as she made it 1-9 apiece.

However, it was Bridini Oga that got the all-important score to take the spoils and a place in next month’s final.
