Pigtown Festival Limerick returns this September and October to celebrate Limerick’s food culture, local producers, and the food heritage across the whole county. On Sunday 18thSeptember The Oak Room at Adare Manor will play host to a very special Pigtown dinner, shining a light on some of Executive Head Chef Mike Tweedie’s favourite local produce, welcoming diners to a very special tour of Limerick on each plate.

Mike Tweedie and his team at The Oak Room, awarded Limerick’s only Michelin star, will take diners through a tasting menu on the evening. To commence the evening, guests will be welcomed with a complimentary, refreshing Attyflin apple cocktail. A firm favourite on The Oak Room menu, the fermented Ballyneety beetroot with watercress and frozen horseradish will cleanse palates before a terrine of Caroline Rigney pork will delight with the honoured ingredient of the evening.

Next, turbot with parsnip, vanilla, chicken and lemon verbena sauce, followed by cotter organic lamb, black garlic and hakurei turnips will complete the savoury dishes of the meal.

Those with a sweet tooth will enjoy the tarte tatin of Attyflin apples and Crecora salted raw milk, not forgetting the spectacular cheese trolley which will feature Cratloe Hill sheep cheese with Adare Manor estate honey and fruit and nut bread, followed by apple sours, whiskey chocolate and salted toffee fudge to complete the exploration of local flavours.

Inspired by the history of Limerick’s famous bacon industry, the Pigtown Culture and Food Series is an exciting programme of themed events that kicks off every September. Each year, restaurants and hotels across Limerick embrace the theme by featuring Pigtown specials and hosting one-off events.
