Best Irish hotels for families revealed at Gold Medal awards

Planning a family getaway? Ireland’s top hotels for families have been named in the Gold Medal Awards.

The annual awards recognise the hotels that have pulled out all the stops to make for a special stay – something that is especially important when it comes to keeping all of the family entertained.

The winners in this year’s family-friendly category include a woodland retreat, a kids club with a historic twist, and a self-catering sanctuary.

In FIRST PLACE is Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel & Spa while the winner in the silver category is The Dunloe House & Gardens and the Breaffy House Resort- Woods Hotel is the bronze award winner.

Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel & Spa

It’s little wonder that Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel & Spa in Adare tops the list for 2021. Aside from the family-friendly leisure club, big and little kids can enjoy spending some time at the free mini petting farm.

There is also a magical woodland fairy trail to explore as well as a pitch for little football fans to brush up on their skills.

The Woody’s Kids Club meanwhile runs every Saturday and across school holidays for children aged 4-12 and the hotel also runs an onsite babysitting service if mum and dad want to enjoy some time together.

Now in their 32nd year, the Gold Medal Awards are recognised as the leading independent awards programme for the Irish hospitality industry.

Judged by industry experts, the Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards recognise and reward excellence in hospitality and catering operations across the island of Ireland. These awards encourage and applaud hotels, restaurants, guest houses, spa and leisure facilities, event caterers, healthcare caterers, site caterers, as well as individuals and teams that achieve the highest standard of product and service in the industry.
