Samco featured tonight on RTE 1 with the focus on their two types of degradable films, ingredients made from Oxo-Biodegradable resin and ingredients from Compostable Bio-plastics.
Oxo-Biodegradable
A masterbatch which turns ordinary plastic at the end of its useful life, in the presence of oxygen, into a material with a different molecular structure. At the end of the process, it is no longer a plastic, and instead has changed to a material which is biodegradable (by bacteria and fungi) in the open environment. The product will degrade and biodegrade in a continuous, irreversible and unstoppable process leaving nothing more than carbon dioxide, water and biomass.
Compostable Bio-plastics.
Using MATER-BI technology in our range of Clear (transparent) films. Not only offering custom designed mulch film for growers, we also offer a wide range of specialised sowing equipment and film laying units to suit your requirements. MATER-BI is a family of fully biodegradable and compostable bioplastics which use renewable resources to provide a solution with low environmental impact and to solve specific environmental problems in various sectors, such as agriculture, foodservice, packaging and the separate collection of organic waste.
