Adare Manor launches a new book by award-winning travel writer and historian Turtle Bunbury on the culinary story of the estate — Adare Manor – An Epicurean Journey.

A large format, lavishly illustrated exploration of food and drink at Adare Manor, in this new book Turtle Bunbury documents the historical precedents and current exciting blossoming of the dining experience at Adare Manor, focusing on the sense of place and spirit of hospitality that has always animated this unique estate. This is the second book on Adare Manor and its history that Turtle Bunbury has written. The first, Adare Manor – Renaissance of an Irish Country House, was published in 2019, and both books are available to purchase directly from Adare Manor, retailing at €60 each.

With exceptional behind the scenes photography by John Blackwell, Jack Hardy and Paul Lehane among others, this 176-page book celebrates the talents and focus of the team of chefs, sommeliers, cocktail experts, gardeners and beekeepers, front of house staff and the entire culinary team who work so closely and so well together to create the food and drinks experience across the entire resort.

Before Adare Manor opened its doors to the public after its significant restoration in 2017, Head of Culinary Loughlin Druhan took the key culinary team on a 3,000 km road trip all around the island to meet the people who farm, fish and produce some of the best ingredients the country has to offer. The team revisited the experience in 2019, checking in with old friends and with another impressive roll call of artisan producers to visit to further deepen connections with the people behind the produce.

Many of that extended family of suppliers make an appearance in Adare Manor – An Epicurean Journey, as those friendships have been crucial in the continuing success story that dining at Adare Manor has become.

The book also has in-depth descriptions of the attention to detail applied across all aspects of the culinary offering at Adare Manor, from the carefully created menus in Michelin-starred The Oak Room to selecting and serving the finest cheese and wine, from collaborating on Adare Manor’s own single cask with iconic Irish whiskey Midleton Very Rare to the exquisite detail of afternoon tea in The Gallery. Whether it’s sophisticated picnics or award-winning cocktails in The Tack Room or relaxed family celebrations in The Carriage House, the philosophy is simply to find the best ingredients possible and allow them to shine. In Adare Manor – An Epicurean Journey, Turtle Bunbury shows this to be a continuation of what the philosophy has always been at Adare Manor.

A feast of stories and full of recipes too, from simple breads to elegant entrees and delectable desserts, Adare Manor – An Epicurean Journey will be as useful a book to have in the kitchen as it is a handsome coffee table addition.

Adare Manor – An Epicurean Journey is available now directly from Adare Manor, RRP €60.
