Although the skies were grey and the damp mist blew up from the Maigue, artists from the region flocked to Adare again today to participate in the 2nd year of the Open Air Painting Competition, kindly sponsored by Regeneron and supported by the Adare Business Association. They created a colourful festival of artistic endeavour. Some of the artists were painting in an outdoor environment for the first time, surrounded by visitors, well-wishers and locals, who seemed in awe of the quality of their work; however they painted on regardless while managing at the same time to keep their work dry!

Adare’s artists took full advantage of the scenic landscape along the banks of the Maigue and the historic buildings of our Heritage town.

Adare’s website, www.adarevillage.com sends congratulations to all the artists who participated in the event and to the organiser, Andrew Timoney at Draiocht.

Rugby’s Joy Neville, Naomi O’Nolan from the Hunt Museum and Adare’ s Henry Morgan will decide the destination of  €1000 winner’s prize.
